According to the report of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, about 3.2% of the world's population live outside the borders of their homeland. And this, no less, almost 232 million migrants. About 74% of the number of displaced people are people aged 20 to 64 years.
UN experts have compiled ranking of countries by the number of migrantsin which Russia ranked second in the neighborhood of the United States and Germany. We offer this rating today for your attention.

10. Spain (6.5 million migrants)

From 2004 to 2009, Spain was the European Union record holder for the annual influx of migrants - over half a million people. Until 2011, the country had very loyal requirements for immigrants, the influx of foreigners allowed not only to obtain low-cost labor, but also to smooth out the consequences of a sharp decline in the birth rate.

9. Australia (6.5 million migrants)

Being one of the most democratic countries in the world, Australia annually attracts hundreds of thousands of immigrants. Half of the migrants are natives of Asia, followed by citizens of Oceania, Africa and Eastern Europe. About 55% of migrants arriving in the country for permanent residence are Chinese.

8. Canada (7.3 million migrants)

The main countries that provided immigrants to Canada are China, India, the Philippines, Pakistan and the United States. Skilled workers make up about 20% of all migrants. The rest either work in low-paid jobs, or are non-working members of the families of other migrants.

7. France (7.4 million migrants)

About 150 thousand people receive French citizenship annually. A huge wave of migrants swept the country in 1990-1999. Almost 600 thousand people entered France from Algeria and Portugal, about half a million arrived from Morocco. Almost a third of migrants in the country live below the poverty line, not working and receiving only benefits.

6. Great Britain (7.8 million migrants)

Most of the migrants living in British territory come from India, Ireland, Pakistan, Germany and Bangladesh. In the last decade, there has been an increase in the share of migrants who come to the country for a short period (about a year) under an employment contract.

5. UAE (7.8 million migrants)

About 80% of the UAE population are labor migrants. Foreigners work in almost every industry, with the exception of public service. The chances of obtaining citizenship in the Emirates are almost zero for a migrant, but a stable salary and a calm political and economic situation attract millions of workers from all over the world in the UAE.

4. Saudi Arabia (9.1 million migrants)

The increase in the number of migrants in oil-producing countries is explained by the growing demand for labor. At the same time, the local Arab population traditionally acts as business owners, very rarely working for hire.

3. Germany (9.8 million migrants)

A significant part of the migrants in the country are Turks. The Gulf War brought more than 1.4 million people to Germany. And in 2002 there was a surge in the migration of refugees from Palestine. It is noteworthy that the unemployment rate among migrants is twice the national average.

2. Russia (11 million migrants)

Given the large number of illegal migrants in Russia, a UN assessment may not be true. In the first half of the year alone, about 10 million migrants entered the country, mainly from Ukraine and Kazakhstan. The package of laws on migrants adopted this year is designed to limit the high growth rate of the number of immigrants.

1. USA (45.8 million migrants)

In 2013 alone, 13 million people marched across the border between Mexico and the United States. It is believed that Mexico is the main source of legal and illegal migrants in the States. According to some researchers, 50% of the country's population growth is not due to fertility, but because of the attractiveness of the United States for migrants.
