In 2018, the Russians are waiting for the next pension reform. What exactly it consists of is still unknown, but, according to the Minister of Finance of Russia, the funded system of three years ago is finally a thing of the past. And the new system should stimulate workers who “want to have a decent pension,” to invest this money. But where exactly?

We updated the rating of Russian NPFs for 2019 according to the Central Bank of the Russian Federation and Expert RA.

The choice is not easy and requires some knowledge in the financial field, which the average Russian can hardly boast of. And here ratings come to the rescue. There are two most authoritative ones, because rating agencies and the Central Bank evaluate pension funds in different ways. And if the profitability of savings is more important for Expert RA, the CBR pays more attention to the volume of the organization’s own funds.

5. UMMC-Perspective

The first in the top 5 of the most profitable PFs is UMMC-Perspective, a private pension fund founded by large metallurgical enterprises of the Urals more than ten years ago. As you can imagine, the majority of his clients were employees of this same metallurgical industry, mainly living in the “capital of the Urals” - Yekaterinburg.

Since 2006, when UMMC-Perspective began to work in the field of compulsory pension insurance, there were fat years (for example, 2009, when the company showed an impressive return of 47.40%), and there were years “hungry” (as in 2008 completed with a zero return).

As of September 2017, Perspective showed a return of 11.2%.

4. Rostvertol

NPF Rostvertol was created in 1994 to help retired employees of the eponymous joint-stock company, one of the largest aircraft manufacturing enterprises in the Russian Federation.

In 2015, the NPF survived the reorganization and entered the open pension market. Over the past ten years, the fund has demonstrated stable returns; 2017, he completed with a figure of 11.3%.

The disadvantage of this NPF is the rather narrow geography of the provision of services - only for the population of Rostov-on-Don. This does not allow one of the most profitable pension funds in Russia to fully compete with other non-state pension funds with branches throughout Russia.

3. “National non-state pension fund”

Like Rostvertol, the National Non-Governmental Pension Fund is the brainchild of one organization, this time an oil and gas company. The initial goal of creating a non-state pension fund is the payment of pensions to Tatneft employees. In 1998, oil and gas workers who reached retirement age received their first pensions from NPFs, and six years later the organization entered the pension insurance market.

Currently, NPF clients are half a million people. Prefers NSFs to work primarily with corporate clients. In 2017, this organization showed a return of 11.83%.

2. "Non-state pension fund" Diamond Autumn "

The name “Diamond Autumn” is not just for the sake of a red word. Initially, the pension fund was intended exclusively for corporate use by employees of Alrosa Holding, a group of companies that are looking for (and find) diamonds in Yakut soil on an industrial scale. NPF employees are proud that even in the difficult conditions of the crises of 1998 and 2008, they paid pensions in full and without delay.

The fund’s profitability is high - 11.94%, and if earlier people who lived on the territory of Alrosa’s work could use its services almost completely, now Almaznaya Osen opened branches in Moscow and Orel.

1. "Non-state pension fund" Hephaestus "

Whereas the previous participants in the top 10 NPFs of Russia did not exceed the bar by 12% in terms of profitability, then Hephaestus overtook them all. For the past 2017 its yield was 14.21%! Hephaestus is one of the oldest private pension funds in the country; It was founded in 1993 by the Central Council of Trade Unions of Mining and Metallurgical Industry Workers and the Russian Committee on Metallurgy.

And two years ago, Hephaestus went through another reorganization - now it is a joint-stock company and, therefore, its services are available not only to miners, but also to everyone. Branches and offices of the most profitable non-state pension fund of 2018 operate in 9 settlements of the Russian Federation.

5. NPF VTB Pension Fund

The five most reliable pension funds in Russia are opened by an organization belonging to a large and influential VTB group. The same group owns one of the most reliable banks in Russia in 2018.

NPF VTB Pension Fund, like the other participants in the rating, has the highest rating of ruAAA, which, according to the compilers of the rating, experts of Expert RA agency, guarantees maximum financial stability, reliability and creditworthiness.

4. NPF "Welfare"

A pension fund with such a nice name was created in the mid-90s under the auspices of the Russian Railways. In the twenty years that have passed since its foundation, the number of people who have applied to the "Welfare" has reached 1.2 million.

By the way, in 2014, “Welfare” “doubled” - a separate legal entity of NPF “Future” was allocated from it. Since then, Welfare has been engaged only in its clients - employees of Russian Railways, but the Future is open to everyone.

3. The Gas Fund

The situation with the "Gas Funds" is not immediately clear. At first there was just the Gazfond Non-State Pension Fund, which provides citizens of the Russian Federation with both pensions and pension insurance.

NPF developed steadily and quickly - by 2009, by the number of assets, it was ahead of all other non-state pension funds. The status of the fund was non-profit, however, due to the tightening of legislation and increased requirements for transparency of funds, it was decided to reorganize.

A new legal entity, “Gazfond Pension Savings”, was selected from Gazfond, which took second place in the rating of the most reliable Russian NPFs of 2018. And the “old” Gazfond was still non-profit and deals exclusively with corporate pensions.

2. Non-state pension fund “Gazfond pension accumulations”

The reason for the large volume of assets of the Gazfond Pension Savings is the reorganization of the Gazfond carried out in 2016, as a result of which several non-state pension funds were merged with the newly formed fund.

After the merger, the number of Gazfond Pension Savings customers exceeded six million people, and the reserves totaled 16 billion rubles. Clients of the fund can be both organizations and individuals; True, the fund’s branches are mainly located in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

1. NPF Sberbank

As Sberbank leads the list of banks by the number of customers, NPF Sberbank ranks first in terms of reliability rating. In favor of it are both a long life in the market, and the number of customers exceeding 6.8 million people, and the volume of assets (in the first quarter of 2017, it exceeded 435.2 billion rubles).

And at the end of 2017, NPF Sberbank also expanded - acquired NPF VNIIEF-Garant.

According to customer reviews, NPF Sberbank has a lot of advantages. Among them are a huge number of branches throughout Russia, quick conclusion of an agreement, reliability, high income and a personal online account. However, there are enough shortcomings, and most of them are called the main quality by poor quality of service. In addition, money to customer accounts does not always arrive on time.
